Why am I required to add references? How are they used?

Hire an Esquire is a gated network, which means that both our clients and legal professionals go through a particular vetting process before they are permitted to participate in our marketplace. Submitting three (3) professional references is a required component of the Hire an Esquire vetting process. We use this information to confirm your professionalism and legal experience.

At Hire an Esquire, we understand that you don't want to exhaust the patience and goodwill of your professional references. This concern is something that we have thought about when putting our vetting process together.

Each reference will receive a link to a short survey via email. It should take less than five minutes to complete. Please feel free to share this information with your references and let them know that we will only contact them only once, regardless of how many positions you pursue with Hire an Esquire.

Adding references as part of your profile completion at the onset eliminates a lot of anxiety, uncertainty, and issues that may crop up later in the process. It is possible that an employer on our site may ask for references before hiring you for a position, but most will not because they know that we have already vetted our network members. Allowing us to check your references this once enables you to be staffed with multiple employers with a single contact made to your references. We hope is that this will eliminate reference exhaustion, not increase it.
